Stairs done cleanly, tread by tread
Stair carpet installation in Mississauga is high-traffic, high-visibility work that rewards a careful hand. We carpet stairs two ways – fully carpeted treads and risers, or a runner down the centre with the wood edges showing – and finish each tread with a clean wrap and tuck. Drag the handle to see a recent stair job.
Stair carpet options
Full stair carpet
Treads and risers fully covered for a soft, quiet, slip-resistant staircase.
Runners
A centre runner with wood edges showing – waterfall or cap-and-band finish.
Hard-wearing fibres
Nylon and wool hold up best on stairs, the busiest path in the house.
Safer underfoot
Carpet adds grip and softens falls – a plus for kids and older adults.

Full stair carpet or a runner
- Full stair carpet covers each tread and riser edge to edge for a soft, quiet, slip-resistant staircase.
- Runners cover the centre of each step and leave a border of wood showing on either side. We install runners waterfall (a smooth drop over each nose) or cap-and-band (upholstered tight to each step).
How we fit stairs
Each step is measured, cut, and fitted by hand. We wrap the bullnose, tuck the carpet tight into the back of each tread, and cut in neatly around spindles on open stairs. On winder or pie-shaped steps we hand-fit each piece so the pattern and pile run true.
The right carpet for stairs
Stairs wear faster than any floor in the house, so we recommend a dense, hard-wearing cut-pile – nylon for value and durability, wool for a premium feel. We also match the underpad to stairs specifically, since a pad that is too soft lets stair carpet crush and loosen.
Areas we serve
We carpet stairs across Mississauga, from the two-storey homes of Erin Mills to the character houses of Lorne Park and Port Credit. Tell us your stair count and layout and we will price it on the quote.
Stair carpet FAQs
How much does it cost to carpet stairs in Mississauga?
Stairs are usually priced per step – roughly $20 to $45 per step depending on the carpet, whether it is a full cover or a runner, and the stair shape. A standard flight is about 13 steps. See our cost guide.
What is the difference between a runner and full stair carpet?
Full stair carpet covers the whole tread and riser. A runner covers the centre and leaves the wood edges showing for a more finished, traditional look. We do both.
Can you carpet open or winder stairs?
Yes. Open sides and winder (pie-shaped) steps take more hand-fitting, and we price that in. We wrap the bullnose and cut in around spindles cleanly.
Which carpet is best for stairs?
A dense nylon or wool cut-pile wears best on stairs. We steer you toward fibres and weights built for heavy foot traffic.
