Re-stretched
Rippled

Drag the handle to see the difference a proper power-stretch makes. (Replace these with a real before/after pair from one of your jobs.)
Why carpet ripples – and how we fix it
Power-stretched, not kicked
A power-stretcher pulls the carpet tight across the room – a knee-kicker cannot.
Humidity and traffic
Seasonal humidity and years of foot traffic loosen carpet over time.
After furniture moves
Dragging heavy furniture can pull carpet off the tack strip – we re-tension it.
Fast and low-cost
Most rooms are re-stretched in an hour or two, far cheaper than replacing.
What re-stretching fixes
If your carpet has waves, ripples, or buckling, it almost always needs re-stretching, not replacing. Ripples happen when carpet was installed with a knee-kicker instead of a power-stretcher, or when humidity and traffic loosen it over time. We power-stretch the carpet tight to the tack strip so it lies flat and stays that way.
Our re-stretching process
- Move furniture. We shift the pieces in the room so we can work the whole floor.
- Release and re-tension. We free the carpet along the affected walls and power-stretch it tight across the room.
- Re-tuck and trim. We re-secure the carpet to the tack strip, tuck the edges, and trim any excess.
- Reset the room. We put the furniture back and leave the floor flat.
When stretching is not enough
If the carpet is damaged rather than loose – a burn, tear, or lifted seam – that is a repair. If it is matted and worn across whole rooms, it is time for a fresh installation. We will tell you honestly which one you need.
Areas we serve
We re-stretch carpet across Mississauga, including Erin Mills, Cooksville, Streetsville, Port Credit, and the City Centre area. Send a photo of the ripples and we will confirm the fix.
Carpet stretching FAQs
Why is my carpet rippling?
Ripples and waves mean the carpet has come loose from the tack strip – usually because it was installed with a knee-kicker instead of a power-stretcher, or because humidity and traffic loosened it over time. It is a stretching problem, not a wear problem.
Does rippled carpet need replacing?
Almost never. If the carpet is otherwise in good shape, re-stretching pulls it flat again for a fraction of the cost of new carpet.
How long does re-stretching take?
Most rooms take one to two hours. We move furniture, power-stretch the carpet tight, re-tuck the edges, and trim any excess.
Will the ripples come back?
A proper power-stretch to the tack strip holds for years. Ripples usually only return when the original install was under-stretched, which is exactly what we correct.
